With views accross the meadows and woodland towards Bassenthwaite Lake and Whinlatter beyond, this holiday cottage is one of four cottages in the converted barn at ParkergateThe property is south west facing with French windows leading to a patio a fabulous spot to watch the sun go down after a hard day out on the fellsThe sitting room is on the ground floor and has a TV and DVD, and french windows leading out to the patio which has fantastic views towards Bassenthwaite Lake and the fells beyondDining is in the sitting room and the kitchen area is just beyond this.
It is fully equipped with cooker with ceramic hob and electric oven, fridge with freezer compartment, microwave, dishwasher and plenty of storage spaceA shower room is also downstairs and then upstairs there are three bedrooms one single, one double and one twinThere is a second bathroom up here with bath and shower overThere is a separate dryer room (with clothes airer, iron and ironing board) which is shared with the other cottages at Parkergate.
There is walking from the front door both to the higher fells, in Dodd wood (where the osprey s nest can be seen from the viewing platforms during nesting season and red squirrels abound) and down to Bassenthwaite LakeThe lovely St Bega's church nestles on the lakeshore, said to be the inspiration for Alfred Tennyson's Morte d'Arthur after his visit there in 1835Bassenthwaite village is a thirty minute walk (1.5 miles) over the fields and is home to a pub, which serves good meals and ales if you fancy a break from self catering!
